I agree.  The democratization of data will make it messy.  There will always be dirty information to expunge and success will likely be mostly due to luck.  Either we let through some bad information or filter out some good.</description>

		<description>I&#039;ve actually been discussing this with a presenter at the BBC recently.   There are a lot of pitfalls to be avoided - especially if they&#039;re linking back to a stream of unconfirmed comments.

I think that every time there is a major event we will discover more of these pitfalls... and I&#039;m not sure that even the best system could ever make it 100% reliable as a source of information.    It will be interesting to see how things develop over time and how Twitter (and others) will respond to the new uses their services are being used for.</description>
