Twitter.

helps people learn about each other
do things together
just talk
make each other laugh
make each other think
they can help each other when something goes wrong
they can work together to do more than they could alone
they can do all that as a part of their everyday lives rather than having to stop and go do it

I have a first grader her and she thinks Twitter is pretty cool because I have so many friends. She also thought it was good because everyone was so far away and yet we could all talk at once (which we do).

She added absent-mindedly that she didn’t have that many friends yet but that was because she was only 5.

Twitter is short
like those short sentences
from a 1st grader…

This is how your challenge played out with my 4yr old.

Me: It’s for talking with people, just like you and I talk, but through the computer. Sometimes about easy stuff. Sometimes about complicated stuff. Never lots of talking or long long sentences. Short stuff that people can understand.

Him: Oh. I don’t think I like it.

Me: Why?

He: I don’t want you to be on the computer. I want you to talk to me without the computer.

Me: Fair enough.
