Getting Started on Twitter

HOW TO
Possibly my favorite is Tony Hsieh’s Beginners Quick Start Guide and Tutorial to using Twitter. Tony is @Zappos on Twitter, and the CEO of www.Zappos.com.
Caroline Middlebrook wrote The Big Juicy Twitter Guide
And Jennifer Laycock’s series From Twits to Tweeple, Why I Embraced Twitter and You Should Too is very helpful. She writes:
- part one where I gave step by step directions on getting your Twitter account up and running,
- part two where I explain how to send messages and take advantage of the Twitter follow/followers system and
- part three, where I explained how Twitter can help you meet new people.
- In part four, I looked at the traffic potential of Twitter and explained the value of retweets in making a link go viral.
Shel Israel put together 7 tips for new users,
Ellen Petry Leanse blogged her top 10 tips.

Twitter in Plain English by Lee LeFever and his team at Common Craft looks at a good beginner “use case” for Twitter. Really, there could be 25 different versions of this video, but you have to start somewhere.
Part Five of Jennifer Laycock’s series also makes a great case for the whys. As with most questions, I asked my Twitter community what guides they like:
My friend @GoldieKatsu created this 20-minute tutorial that covers setup through more advanced uses. And here are some other sources: Tom Humbarger’s Do You Twitter? Twutorials is a blog of short video tips.
